The new season is just about here so it’s time to at least write something here. I’ve done quite a few things over the winter although probably not enough. Here’s a short summary of them.

Liftoff approaches
Well, at least I hope it does.
Since I was last here I’ve been pressing onwards, and missed the RGB meeting at Donington last weekend. Anthea and I went up to watch and got burnt in the sunshine while watching the RGBers swooping down the Craner Curves. What’s to bet that when we go back there later in the year it’ll be raining, like it’s doing at the moment? More importantly, it’s now not long until the meeting at Snetterton which I’m aiming at for the newly engined car.
Flame on…
I trimmed down the dash a bit and mounted the instruments, so far as they go, to the smaller plate; here it is. The space on the right is for the Palm. Traditionally, I put this on the left but the gearchange actuation lever is in the way. I might change the software slightly so as to move the gear indication to the left of the display, although it might not be necessary.
Alive Alive-O
It’s time to press on with the electrics, and the first part was to fit the battery. I decided to position this low down behind the driver’s seat so I made a little plinth for it and held it in place with some bits of aluminium angle and, yes folks, some chunky tie-wraps.
Cooling a fevered J15
Back on the J15 front things have moved on a bit and I’m planning on lots of progress over the next few days. 🙂 A lot of the recent progress has been about the cooling system which is now actually completely finished. Well, apart from filling it up and discovering all the bits that leak, that is.
A lonely race
A quick post to link to a video of the race at the weekend. This is some “highlights” from my race at the weekend although it could hardly be called exciting. Mind you, its looks fascinating compared to the GP at the weekend.
Frustration
The start of the race season is fast approaching, so I’ve had to spend a lot of the weekend fettling the Fury for the (J15-less) start of the season. The photo is of the end result.
Another day, another panel
I’ve nothing to say really, but posting things makes me think that things are moving forwards, and I can continue whining to you lot about the tedium of panelling.
I added another two of the little b*******s to the car today, the first being the “shoulder” panel in the photo. By the way, in the background you can see the Fury sitting there all unloved and neglected. However, I’m going to have to start re-invigorating it soon. I’m hoping to get the J15 to a rolling chassis versi0n fairly soon so as to facilitate that.
